Tunnel developed by General Electric Research Laboratory, Schenectady, NY, consists of driver, diaphragm section, shock tube of constant area and nozzle partly installed in dump tank; instrumentation used; preliminary results in investigation of high temperature gas effects on flow around bodies traveling at hypersonic Mach numbers encountered by intercontinental ballistic missiles and satellites re-entering Earth's atmosphere.
