Main objectives and principal measurements being made on AASHO road test at Ottawa, Ill; design consists of dual 24 ft roadways connected by turn arounds with one tangent of each of six test loops constructed of asphaltic concrete and one of portland cement concrete pavement; US Army Transportation Corps members operate trucks 18 hr per day, six days/week; vehicles carry loads from 2000 to 30,000 lb on single axles and from 24,000 to 48,000 lb on tandem axles.
