Illustrated description of America's first steam warship built in 1814; length 150 ft; beam 56 ft; total displacement 2500 tons including machinery and armament; vessel had two double ended hulls, which formed trough as long as vessel and about 15 ft wide; in this, paddlewheel revolved and was protected by haul on each side; most of guns for Fulton were taken from British ship and consisted of thirty "32 pounders" and four heavier guns called " Columbiards" that fired 100-lb shot.
