Illustrated description of 70-ft steam tugs; apart from fact that they are constructed almost wholly by welding, conventional design has been very largely abandoned without any appreciable loss of efficiency; underlying reasons for radical departures from conventional construction methods is desirability of employing class of labor wholly unacquainted with shipbuilding.
