Locomotives, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works to conform to universal clearance diagram with height oa 12 ft 10 1/2 in., width oa 9 ft; weight on any one pair of driving wheels of limited to 36, 000 lb, with uniform distribution on four driving axles; suitable for operation at elevations as great as 6800 ft above sea level, and with boiler feed level as high as 135 F; superheated steam is used; boiler carries pressure of 225 lb; similar to "Persching" locomotives of first World War.
