Range of compression ratios from 4.7:1 to 16.2:1 was used, tests being carried out at seven values of compression ratio, spaced at intervals of approximately two ratios; tests show that with producer gas of average quality increased power output is obtained with increases in compression ratio up to limit of 13.9:1 determined by onset of detonation.
