Design of new circular test track at Proving Ground near Milford, Mich, required construction of access system to permit traffic to enter track from lower-speed inner lane; system of overpasses and fills to carry entering traffic over circular track and adjacent roadways was built; its most important feature is parapet which consists of double-angled, sloped-face concrete barrier surmounted by steel pipe rail secured by specially-designed brackets; parapet is designed to retain impacting vehicles on bridge, redirect them onto roadway, and inflict minimum damage to car's sheet metal and wheels.
