Construction time was saved by Bethlehem Steel Corp in replacing through-truss railroad span with plate-girder span, 147 ft long over Lehigh River; one 100-ton rig with 100-ft boom and 30-ft jib, on solid railroad bed, was used to set cross beams on top of truss span to support pair of longitudinal beams that serve as tracks for lifting trolleys; cross beams range from 30 WF 124, 30-ft long, to 36 WF 300, 46ft long; 8-wheel trolleys were shop-mounted on 14 WF short beams to avoid difficulties of getting trolleys up on track site.
