Results of evaluations of "Temperature-Density" concept and single-cylinder road octane technique aimed at closer approximation of time-temperature-pressure history of fuel-air charge in multicylinder engine; ratings of fuel blends from five fuels were made by these two techniques; standard ASTM Research and Motor methods, and accepted CRC road rating techniques in seven cars; for four cars, blend from each fuel system which just satisfied antiknock requirement of that car was determined; laboratory ratings of fuel equivalents by each of techniques and standard methods were compared to ratings assigned by each of test cars.
