Heterogeneity of brake types on same vehicle poses problems with respect to optimum distribution of braking effort between front and rear axles; influence of brake design on variation of friction coefficient and braking force distribution is examined; it is concluded that vehicles having disk brakes on front axle should be fitted with disk brakes on rear axles.
