Thermactor system developed is composed of air pump, incorporating relief valve, air distribution manifolds with check valves, cylinder head(s) with air injection tubes, exhaust backfire suppressor valve, and for some engines, revised distributors and carburetors; air inlet manifold distributes fresh air from air pump to individual exhaust ports in cylinder head; latter with air injection tubes provides for introduction of air into exhaust port near exhaust valve seat mixing exhaust gas and air for effective burning; paper covers exhaust emission control development, vehicle development and testing, and details of Thermactor subsystems.
