Subject is explored by examining past and present planning of airports for east coast megalopolis centered on New York and Philadelphia, and by recommending new planning methods that will permit aviation to serve better metropolitan areas; it is shown that metropolitan regions must be totally planned to preserve balance of residential, business and industrial development; airports should become heart of planned region and planned communities; major airports should be developed as master transportation centers.
