Runway lighting requirements for Category II operations are outlined and factors to consider in determining lighting system parameters, such as cockpit cutoff and pitch angles, and background brightness; factors involved in establishing intensity and distribution of light for fixtures are examined and data relating background brightness to threshold of detection presented in form of curve; description of fog chamber where fog is generated by feeding compressed air and water through nozzles; in asphalt-concrete floor building, approach and runway lights are installed to permit study of approach and in-runway lighting system.
