Analytic and simulation models of squadron-level maintenance were developed and tested against field data for systems in operational use and applied to spectrum of avionic systems for aircraft including U S Air Force tactical fighters, interceptors, and strategic bombers, and Navy attack and defense aircraft; models have been used for various purposes, including setting quantitative maintainability requirements at system and unit levels, planning field support for systems under development and evaluating field maintenance practices; paper describes models and presents results; emphasis is on tactical fighter avionics and radar subsystems for Navy carrier based attack aircraft.
