Study undertaken by Gen Dynamics/Fort Worth to develop inlet and control system for 4 ×24A (J79) engines; concepts proposed were variable afterburner thrust, variable convergent-divergent, nozzle, and variable geometry inlet; tests made and final selection of latter; inlet control, operation and characteristics.
