Bowery Bay, of all steel welded construction, with six sludge compartments of 68,500 cu ft capacity or cargo deadweight capacity of 1900 long tons, was built by John H.Mathis Co for operation by Division of Sewage Disposal of New York City; length 283 ft, breadth 45 ft, depth 12 ft; vessel has its own sludge pumping system; two Cooper-Bessemer diesels are each rated 930 shp at 336 rpm.
