It is suggested that suspension allowing transverse or axial movement of axles in relation to car body would provide for economy, increased riding comfort, and reduction in stress on track from two and three axle coaches; two suspension types were applied to two-axle coaches and compared with normal suspension using radial axles, and with oscillating bolsters.
