Vehicle control during powered lunar descent, assuming landing at particular site under either manual or automatic control, is described; factors considered are man's capabilities, minimum fuel landing trajectories, amount of visual information required, and configuration of control equations; it is found that fuel expenditure is major factor in determining controller.
