Description of retarder "Klam kit", made in Spain, which consists of retarder unit complete with rubber mountings, contactor box and four-position control switch; unit, mounted in transmission line, operates independently of engine and continues to work when gear box is in neutral; eight coils are mounted axially around central hub and these give electromagnetic braking effect on disks, mounted fore and aft of unit; results obtained in demonstration tests are presented; Klam unit has so far been fitted to Bedford, Ford and Leyland Leopard coaches.
