Consideration of interrelated requirements of contamination control, quarantine, and time-dependent experimentation resulted in establishment of centralized LRL (Lunar Receiving Laboratory) now nearing completion at NASA Manned Spacecraft Center Houston, Tex; functional requirements of LRL which is divided into Crew Reception Area, Sample Operations Area, and Support and Administration area; operational aspects of each area, equipment to be installed and procedures to be carried out are described; tabulation of principal investigators for lunar sample analysis program and proposed investigations.
