Project envisaged by Hovercraft Development Ltd involves hovercraft guided by inherent directional stability between vehicle and track which supports it, and designed either as single-vehicle hovercars or as coupled units, hovertrains; for general transport, speeds might be 200 to 250 mph and up to 500 mph is thought feasible; vehicle resembles aircraft fuselage, part of which envelops track, is supported by air cushion lift pads on horizontal surface of track and guided by further air cushions acting on sides of track; form of electric traction, linear induction motor, is considered suitable; track is elevated concrete or ground level structure; photograph shows demonstration model.
