Experimental optimal relay guidance system to control bang-bang, line of sight guidance missile is described; it makes use of both instantaneous pilot commands and past history of commands in order to derive missile maneuver orders which are based on more optimal strategy; proper error nulling is aided by injecting anticipatory synthetic missile dynamics which tend to damp out phase lags and other interactions associated with human and missile aerodynamics.
