To bridge 227-mi gap between two electrified sections, Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad has put in service EMC 4-car, 5400-hp locomotive; each car has two 4-wheeled trucks, all axles having d-c geared traction motors; in each car 16-cyl, 1350-hp, two-stroke V-type Diesel engine is installed, operating at 800 rpm.
