Suggested procedure for use of limited origin-destination (O-D) survey data for other phases of travel forecasting process, with attendant savings in data collection and analysis; in area of trip generation, it is suggested that relationships be derived directly from home interview information at household level, rather than after aggregation of O-D survey travel data and socioeconomic and land-use data to zonal level; other opportunities include use of mailed questionnaires, and possibility of reducing effort in making roadside interviews by interviewing in one direction and adhering to rigid sampling techniques.
