Extensive sample of urban arterial street field survey data is employed to study dependence of travel time-volume relationship to geometrics and traffic control factors; principal variance-producing factors in study sample are identified; major result of study is determination of set of general prediction curves by means of which travel time-volume relationship can be estimated from knowledge of characteristics of given specific streets; application of travel time results to evaluation of traffic operations is indicated.
