Proposed fundamental change in ocean transport, based on concept of separation of motive and cargo parts of merchant ship; it is suggested motive part and separate cargo part may be referred to as Pusher Ship and Cargo Unit respectively; when pusher ship is joined to cargo unit, complete vessel thus formed may be known as Composite Ship; example chosen is that of 13,000-ton dw, 21-knot speed general cargo vessel, trading between United States and United Kingdom.
