Flowfield in wake of circular cylinders was studied at Mach number of six to distance of 2400 diameters downstream; in Reynolds number range considered (Red about 300 to 4000), inner wake stemming from cylinder boundary layer is laminar and loses its identity within 60 diameters, so that only outer wake caused by bow shock is of importance; flowfield was defined experimentally by Pitot pressure, static pressure, and mean-flow hot-wire measurements; within certain region experimental results compare well with laminar linear theory but wake profiles do not become similar within 2400 diameters.
