In order that advantages of locomotive transport may be enjoyed on gradients normally considered to be beyond practical range of this form of underground haulage, author suggests employment of rubber tired tractors; in his opinion, application of tractors lies in "middle gradients," thereby leaving conveyor unchallenged for really steep work and locomotive for practically level hauls.
