Twelve standard types of corridor cars of completely new design are under construction to meet requirements of passenger service; designs feature automatic couplers, vestibules, diaphragm connections, and all steel construction; first phase of program calls for 1189 new cars; later noncorridor cars for steam and electric services will be built.
