Motion of rigid airplane flying into linearly graded gust; unsteady aerodynamic effects taken into account; analysis first carried out assuming incompressible flow; case of flight at high subsonic speeds considered, and it is found that analysis of this case is not immediately practical; case of supersonic flight may be readily analyzed, and this is done, under assumption of 2-dimensional flow, for flight through sharp edged gust.
