Review of considerations in selecting imaging systems for reproducing images of ground characteristics from space vehicle; techniques for gathering information and also parameters involved in interpretation are discussed; former include television, photographic, infrared, lasers and active radar; future capabilities of spaceborne imaging systems are indicated.
