Concept and operating characteristics of radial sensor are presented which is tuned mechanical oscillator that responds to gravity-gradient forces when it is rotated in stationary gravitational field; because of inherent dynamic magnification resulting from resonant or near-resonant operation of sensor it obtains high sensitivity and can potentially be used as accurate attitude control sensor, orbital altimeter, or naviagtion aid in variety of satellite applications.
