Paper describes microthruster development programs for systems already flown in space as well as systems having designated flight-program status; applications include NASA Advanced Technology Satellites (ATS) and Dept of Defense programs under direction of U S Air Force and Navy; description of TRW Thruster for Vela III Spacecraft and Resistojet Flight Systems for NASA ATS program; ATS-D and ATS-E Ion-Microthruster Experiments and objectives; Air Force multipurpose synchronous satellite program (AFMS) and development of charged-particle microthruster and bombardment-ion microthruster.
