Requirements exist in scientific sounding rockets for control of operations which must be programmed to occur at specified times or in particular sequence; availability of low-cost integrated circuits allows electronic programs of in-creased complexity to be carried in payloads; advantages of using integrated circuits in control applications in sounding rockets are discussed with reference to timer, designed for controlling operation of group of cameras; functional description of circuit and operating controls.
