Based on calculations of two similar devices, in which anode and cathode geometries were same but distance between cathode tip and exit plane of anode L were different, it is shown that electrode geometry has pronounced effect on current and potential distribution in MPD arcs; plume contribution to thrust increases with decrease in L; calculations also show that Hall current densities are higher than radial current densities throughout engine and exhaust plume, and are comparable to axial current densities within electrode region.
