Description of laboratory test developed at Road Research Laboratory in Great Britain, to examine frost-susceptibility of road materials under conditions of continuous freezing; results of tests carried out over period of 10 to 15 yr are classified in terms of cohesive soils, noncohesive soils, chalks, limestones, granites, burnt colliery shales, slags and pulverized fuel ashes; conclusions relating to frostsusceptibility of each material are given and related to classification data on liquid and plastic limits, particle size distribution or saturation moisture content of aggregate.
