Bituminous paving tests were carried out to ascertain operational problems, capacity and limitations of Blaw Knox PF .90 "M" type paver; 3702 tons of tarmacadam base of normal compacted thickness 3 1/4 in, were laid by machine in two days, plus 1112 tons by another machine on same site; averaage overall rate of paving was about 230 tph; effect of different engine speeds and gears on output and on stoppages to forward movement of paver, and of performance of different types of trucks on output is examined.
