MARS-101 and MARS-102 computers, as central processing machine of automatic seat reservation system described, are used in reservation center nearby Tokyo Central Station; central equipment is connected with 642 agent sets of principal Japanese Nat Ry stations and Japan Travel Bureau, Inc offices throughout country, by 50-baud data transmission channels composed in microwave network; baud channels amount to approximately 90,000 circuit-km; system operates for 19 hr and 20 min daily.
