Prospective means of collecting information on train location which is required for automatic train performance recorder; multi-frequency time-division transmission system is proposed in which narrow-band filter is set in field and information on train location is obtained as simple on-off information; system has been tentatively applied in various regions of Japanese National Railways and based on results, "mean times between failures" for equipment are calculated.
