Six technical factors that make reliability problem particularly serious in missiles are: complexity, lack of component redundancy, lack of feedback, severe environments, weight and space requirements, and electrical reliability; review of German V-2 history; reliability can be improved by use of more reliable components, improved design, improved selection and training of personnel and standard operating procedures, and component redundancy.
