Paper presents mathematical proof that, if 2 coplanar elliptical orbits with common focus intersect for some orientations, optimum one-impulse transfer between 2 orbits is still inferior to 2-impulse Hohmann transfer; numerical results indicating this result are mentioned by L.Ting (see Engineering Index 1961 p 1500) and proof for special case of intersecting elliptical and circular orbit is given by J.M. Horner, previously indexed from ARS -- J July 1962 issue.
