Space suits and portable life-support systems being developed for project Apollo will have to serve as virtual one-man space ships; suits will be worn for 4-hr expeditions on moon's surface and for short periods outside vehicle in space; comparison of mission requirements of Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs; problems in designing suit, and developing life support back packs for Apollo mission.
