Free torsional-axial vibrations of direct connected propulsion system are determined for conditions where coupling between torsional and axial motion cannot be neglected; calculation is performed for installation driven by 10-cyl 2-stroke diesel engine; effect of thrust block stiffness and crank sequence on coupled motions is investigated.
