High temperature refractory, tantalum-10% tungsten produced by Nat Research Corp, will be used for manufacture of secondary propulsion thrust chambers on Agena, target vehicle for Gemini; one advantage of tantalum-10% tungsten is its ability to go from cryogenic to very hot temperature (4500 F) and still retain its ductility; major production use of tantalum-10% tungsten is for auxiliary rocket nozzles; other uses for tantalum-tungsten alloys include gas control systems, exhaust piping, main rocket motor parts, and leading edge material.
