Examination of principles of passenger traffic movement to determine how conclusions are affected by practical considerations; analysis shows advantages which railways have over bus transport in passenger-carrying capacity; after calculating theoretical capacities of different transport systems, allowances are made for practical conditions such as station stops and acceptable levels of speed and deceleration.
