In development announced by Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Co, Essex, transmission is swept through band of frequencies for purpose of height finding; this, in conjunction with new aerial, has effect of electronically tilting transmitted beam through arc in vertical plane, obviating need for mechanical nodding of whole aerial head as is current practice; it would speed operations if applied to existing civil and military air traffic control systems.
