Equipment for high speed iron ore unloading from cars at rates of up to 4000 tph has commenced operations at Port Etienne in Mauritania; plant is designed to work under control of one man by means of interlocks for automatic operation; 100 tons gross car, holding 75 tons of ore, is tipped and returned in 32 sec and overall handling rate, including car change, is one car in 65 sec; complete system is arranged for automatic operation, all motions being fully interlocked, although cycle and manual control can also be selected.
