Ability of dynamometer and its associated equipment to simulate road conditions such as automobile inertia, wind resistance, and road grades has permitted moving automotive proving grounds indoors for many tests; variables in outdoor testing such as temperature, wind, rain, cannot affect indoor test results; testing of engines, governors, transmissions, axles, and chasses given as examples.
