New, light weight, heavy duty diesel engine for stationary and portable service announced by American Locomotive Co, and known as Model 251A, is 6-cyl, 4-cycle turbocharged diesel of 9-in. bore and 10 1/2-in. stroke, rated at 690 hp at 900 rpm; engine is standard production engine for Alco-Ge 800 hp switching locomotive; other typical applications are for generation, irrigation pumping, etc.
