Use of crank-effort diagram to explain breakdown owing to uneven torque frequently leads to conflicting considerations; cases are given in which not only is phase of torque variation different from that calculated, but also number of variations; discrepancy is probably due to induced torsional vibrations; results of measurements of torque and thrust of marine engines; tests show difficulty of securing uniform running of marine plant. See brief translated abstract in Mar. Engr. and Motorship Bldr., vol. 49, no. 592, Dec. 1926, p. 472.
